FLEXIM supports the DRK Berlin warming bus with 10,000 euros
As part of our FLEXIM Cares charity programme, FLEXIM is supporting the work of the Berlin Red Cross warming bus with a donation of 10,000 euros.
During the winter months from the beginning of November to the end of March, the warming bus is on the streets of Berlin every evening, helping to alleviate the plight of homeless people. The warming bus team, consisting of volunteers and staff equipped with socio-educational skills, follows up on tips from the public and travels to known rough sleeping places such as rapid transit and underground network stations. The kind helpers distribute tea, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, blankets, rucksacks, winter shoes and warm clothing, which are either donated or bought in. And if required, the team is able to organise a place in emergency accommodation and provide transport.
Throughout the 2022/23 winter season, the team had 1,604 contacts with homeless people and drove 391 people in need of help to emergency accommodation in the warming bus. A total of 820 calls were received from concerned citizens on the help line, reporting people in need without shelter.
"Our aim is to make a contribution to the general good of society through our actions," says Anna Wierzbicka from the FLEXIM marketing department, describing the objective of FLEXIM Cares: "We have a global presence with the ultrasonic flowmeters we produce. At the same time, our roots at home, here in Berlin, are very important to us. Solidarity, partnership and helping where necessary are firm cornerstones of our corporate ethics."
