Ultrasonic Flow Measurement
at High Temperatures
The new WaveInjector® was engineered to enlarge the temperature range
of the standard FLEXIM ultrasonic transducers. A permanent flow measurement with ultrasounds
is now possible at temperatures as high as 400°C, even in explosive atmosphere.
The Wave Injector is based on the properties of the transmission of ultrasounds in metal. A metal plate is inserted between
the pipe wall and the flow transducer. A nearly lossfree ultrasonic coupling is reached
and the transducers are cooled down to their normal temperature range.
A typical application of the WaveInjector is the flow measurement in explosive atmosphere for the chemical industry,
at process temperatures over 220°C. Another frequently encountered application is the volume flow measurement of thermal oil.
